Heatwave Grips Odisha: Jharsuguda Records Scorching 41°C
Odisha is reeling under a heatwave, with Jharsuguda in western Odisha recording the highest temperature at a blistering 41°C on Monday.
Other towns, including Sambalpur, Rourkela, and Hirakud, registered temperatures between 38°C and 40°C, while Bhubaneswar and Cuttack settled at 38°C.
Weather scientist Umashankar Das shared these observations on social media, highlighting the concerning rise in temperatures. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted that maximum temperatures would remain elevated for the next 24 hours, with a possible drop of 2-3°C thereafter. However, isolated pockets in districts like Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Angul are likely to continue experiencing temperatures above 40°C.
As Odisha swelters under this intense heat, authorities urge residents to stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activities during peak hours.
