Harmony in Festive Spirits: Barbil Hosts Peace Committee Meeting for Upcoming Celebrations

Barbil (Rasanand Behera) Mar 30 : Barbil town witnessed a significant initiative on 29th March 2025 as a peace committee meeting was held at Barbil Police Station under the esteemed leadership of D. N. Pingua, OPS, SDPO Barbil and the Inspector-in-Charge of Barbil PS Ashok Kumar Nayak. The meeting aimed to ensure the smooth observance of three consecutive festivals—Hindu Nava Barsa on 30th March, Id-Ul-Fitr on 31st March, and Rama Navami—by fostering collaboration and understanding among the community.

Representatives from diverse religious communities actively participated in the meeting, voicing their perspectives on celebrating these events in a harmonious manner. Distinguished members such as Dilip Kumar Mishra, Debabrata Mishra, Raja Gupta, Sonu Singh from the Temple Committee, and Md Abid, Arif Alam, Sahanwaj Khan, Kaisar Khan from the Anjuman Islamia Committee, alongside the president and secretary of the Akhada Committee, contributed valuable insights. Notably, a total of 16 Akhada parties are anticipated to join the procession.

The peace committee deliberated on various measures to uphold order and unity during the festivities. Key decisions included:

1. Timely Discipline: All Akhada parties must adhere to their assigned schedules and uphold discipline during the procession. Volunteer assistance from each party will ensure smooth traffic management.
2. Unified Volunteer Teams*: Community representatives from both religious groups will jointly deploy volunteers at strategic locations to prevent any untoward incidents.
3. Mandatory Permissions*: Akhada parties will individually obtain procession permissions from the police station.
4. Respectful Conduct*: All attendees agreed to avoid slogans or actions that could hurt religious sentiments.
5. Commitment to Order*: Indiscipline will not be tolerated during any of the festivals.
6. Rumor Verification*: Committee members will report any issues to the police promptly and validate rumors before reacting.
7. Action Against Mischief*: Both groups pledged to hand over mischief-makers to the police.
8. Traffic and Crowd Management*: Barbil Police will collaborate with civil defense volunteers to regulate traffic and manage crowd movement.

The police administration emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation and vigilance, urging committee members to ensure a peaceful celebration. The meeting ended with a unified resolve to safeguard the festive spirit and maintain community harmony in Barbil town.
