Hardcore Maoist Leader Kunjam Hidma Arrested in Koraput

Koraput, May 29, ( OT Webdesk)In a significant achievement against Maoist insurgency, security forces have apprehended notorious Maoist leader Kunjam Hidma in the dense Petaguda forest under Baipariguda police station limits in Koraput district.

His capture marks a major breakthrough in countering extremist activities in the region.

Hidma, an Area Committee Member (ACM), had a bounty of Rs 4 lakh, while the Chhattisgarh government had declared an Rs 8 lakh reward for his arrest.

He is suspected to have played a key role in seven violent attacks, four in Koraput and three in Malkangiri, targeting security personnel.

During the operation, authorities recovered a significant cache of arms and supplies, including an AK-47 rifle, 47 firearms, 35 live rounds, detonators, explosives, communication equipment, Maoist literature, and medicines.

His arrest is expected to deal a substantial blow to the remaining insurgent networks as investigations continue.

Security forces remain vigilant in their efforts to dismantle extremist operations and restore peace in the affected regions.
