Grand Toshali Mela 2026 Concludes in Bhubaneswar with Cultural Grandeur
Bhubaneswar witnessed a spectacular conclusion to the 20th edition of the Toshali National Crafts Mela on February 26, 2026.
The closing ceremony celebrated Odisha’s rich cultural heritage while highlighting the fair’s economic impact on local artisans and weavers.
Commissioner-cum-Secretary Guha Poonam Tapas Kumar emphasised the fair’s role in empowering craftspeople and boosting prosperity.
With 64 handicrafts officially recognised by the state government, the event reinforced Odisha’s reputation as a hub of traditional artistry.
This year’s mela introduced innovation with Artificial Intelligence used to monitor visitor footfall, ensuring better crowd management. The Srujanika Craft Cluster also played a pivotal role in promoting indigenous crafts.
The evening finale featured a dazzling drone show showcasing government schemes and a mesmerising Odissi dance performance by Padma Shri Ileana Citaristi.
Dignitaries, including Additional Secretaries Pratap Chandra Hota and Chinmayee Biswal, and Director of Handicrafts Surya Narayan Patnaik, graced the occasion.
The Secretary expressed gratitude to organisers and optimism for the future of Odisha’s artisans, marking the event as both a cultural celebration and a platform for sustainable livelihood.
