Govt to Establish Permanent Vending Zone Near Kapil Prasad

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced plans to set up a permanent vending zone near Kapil Prasad BDA Chhak in Bhubaneswar to rehabilitate street vendors and streamline urban management.

Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra informed the Assembly that the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will conduct surveys and relocate vendors to the new zone.

Currently, 42 vendors have been identified on Rath Road. Although 54 pindis (platforms) were constructed on Vivekananda Marg, legal hurdles have delayed their rehabilitation .

In Forest Park, seven vendors have already been shifted, while surveys for vendors in Nuagaon are still pending.

The initiative aims to provide relief to vendors while addressing civic concerns, ensuring a balance between livelihood opportunities and urban order.
