Goods Train Derailed Near Murga Mahadeo Road, Vande Bharat and Barbil–Puri Trains Stranded; Passengers Sent by Bus
Keonjhar: A major disruption occurred in the Chakradharpur railway division on Monday when two wagons of a goods train derailed near Murga Mahadeo Road station around 12 PM.
The derailment halted the movement of goods trains on both up and down lines of this busy route.
A rescue team from Danguaposi quickly reached the site and began efforts to re-rail the wagons.
The incident had a cascading effect on passenger services.

At Banshpani station in Kendujhar district, the Brahmapur–Tatanagar Vande Bharat Express was stranded for over three hours, while the Barbil–Puri Intercity Express and other trains were unable to proceed.
Hundreds of passengers were left waiting without clear information, leading to frustration and confusion.
Passengers, including Pranati Shadangi, Chinmay Pattnayak, MD Tohid, Mohammad Sadiq, and Arman Khan, expressed their difficulties, with many worried about reaching their destinations on time.
The railway authorities arranged buses to transport around 126 passengers to Tatanagar and Chaibasa, though uncertainty remains regarding ticket refunds.

Notably, the derailment occurred during the visit of South Eastern Railway General Manager Anil Kumar Mishra to the Chakradharpur division, highlighting the urgency of addressing safety and operational challenges in the region.
The incident underscores the vulnerability of rail operations and the pressing need for stronger safety measures to ensure passenger convenience and trust.
