In a heartfelt tribute to the Father of the Nation, the Odisha Assembly hosted a state-level Gandhi Jayanti celebration, organised by the Information and Public Relations Department.
The event drew participation from top dignitaries, including Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and Speaker Surama Padhy, who offered floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi’s statue.
Senior officials and political leaders reflected on Gandhi’s enduring teachings, emphasising their relevance in today’s socio-political landscape.
A multi-faith prayer meeting followed, featuring Ramdhun and bhajans from Gandhi’s favourite Ashram collection, reinforcing his values of truth, nonviolence, and unity.
A key highlight was the photo exhibition titled “Gandhiji and Odisha,” which showcased rare archival images of Gandhi’s visits and influence on the state’s freedom movement. Curated by Deputy Director Sucheta Priyadarshini, the exhibition offered a visual journey through Odisha’s historical connection with Gandhi.
The celebration served as a powerful reminder of Gandhi’s timeless legacy, inspiring attendees to embrace simplicity, service, and compassion in their daily lives.
