Gajapati Tribal Girl Jyosna Shabar Nominated for National Child Award

Gajapati, Odisha – In a proud moment for the state, 17‑year‑old tribal girl Jyosna Shabar from Marlaba Panchayat under Rayagada block has been nominated for the prestigious Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award 2025.

She is the only child from Odisha and the first ever from Gajapati district to receive this honour.

The award will be conferred on December 26, 2025, at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, in a grand ceremony attended by the President of India and the Prime Minister.

Jyosna has earned recognition through her remarkable achievements in weightlifting, representing Odisha and India at both national and international competitions.

Since 2019, she has been pursuing her education at the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) in Bhubaneswar while undergoing rigorous training at the Kalinga Stadium.

Her success has brought immense pride to the people of Gajapati district, with the local administration and community celebrating her nomination as a milestone achievement.
