Bhubaneswar Railway Station, a crucial hub in Odisha’s capital city, is set to undergo a transformative upgrade under the ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Yojana. This redevelopment initiative aims to modernize infrastructure, improve commuter convenience, and provide world-class amenities.
The most notable feature of this renovation is the introduction of an elevated flyover system, allowing commuters to access the station from the upper level and exit at the lower level. This innovative design aims to reduce congestion and streamline movement. Additionally, an air-concourse will connect all six platforms, replacing foot overbridges and offering faster, more accessible transitions for passengers, particularly the elderly and differently-abled individuals.
The station will also offer state-of-the-art facilities, including escalators, lifts, waiting lounges, information kiosks, security checks, a food plaza, and retail outlets. To accommodate the growing number of passengers, parking zones will be expanded with dedicated spaces. The project is a collaborative effort between the Indian Railways and the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA).
The redevelopment is expected to be completed by August next year, ushering in a new era of travel experience for the city’s residents and visitors alike.
