
Four Odisha officials arrested by Vigilance in bribery operations
Bhubaneswar, Aug 14 (UNI) The Odisha Vigilance Directorate has arrested four government functionaries in separate bribery cases during three operations conducted yesterday.
According to Vigilance sources, the accused include two health staffers from the CDMO office in Parlakhemundi, one health staffer from the Muniguda CHC in Rayagada district, and a junior clerk from the office of the BEO, Mahakalpada in Kendrapara district.
They were formally arrested today and will be produced before the Vigilance courts.
In one operation, following the trap of Jagdish Pattnaik, Clerk, and Niranjan Nayak, Peon, both from the CDMO office, Parlakhemundi, Vigilance teams carried out searches and recovered Rs. 5,19,700 from Pattnaik’s office drawer and Rs 1.5 lakh from his government quarter in Parlakhemundi.
The seized cash is suspected to be bribe money. Pattnaik is currently being interrogated to determine its exact source.
