Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), June 8: In the ongoing investigation into the removal of focus lights near the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, Collector Siddharth Swain has reported the detention of four individuals in connection with the incident.
The lights were dismantled by a New Delhi-based event company without prior notice, prompting an inquiry to identify the primary culprit.
Installed as part of the Srimandir Parikrama Project, these focus lights were intended for the beautification of Srimandir, Bada Danda, and the Meghananda wall.
Local residents expressed discontent after the laser lights, aimed at illuminating the Jagannath Temple, remained switched off for three consecutive days, leaving the area in darkness.
The focus lights, initially installed during the inauguration of the Heritage Corridor project, were reportedly removed by contractors two days ago, coinciding with the BJD’s defeat in the 2024 elections.
