Forest Department Nabs 11 Poachers in Deogarh for Wild Boar Electrocution Trap
In a decisive crackdown on wildlife crime, the Forest Department in Odisha’s Deogarh district arrested 11 individuals for allegedly killing wild boars using illegal live-wire traps.
The poachers had rigged GI wires to an 11kV power line, creating a deadly setup that electrocuted three wild boars.
Forest personnel, during a routine night patrol, detected suspicious activity and swiftly conducted a raid.
The operation led to the recovery of three wild boar carcasses, GI wires, and other poaching equipment. Officials confirmed that two of the accused had prior cases and were absconding.
