FIR Filed Against Kesari Chapter 2 for Alleged Historical Distortion; TMC, Mamata Banerjee Demand Action

Kesari Chapter 2 Bengal controversy

(OT Webdesk)A political firestorm has erupted over the Bollywood film Kesari Chapter 2, after an FIR was filed against its makers for allegedly misrepresenting Bengal’s revolutionary role in India’s freedom struggle.

The FIR, lodged at Bidhannagar South police station under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, names seven producers of the movie.

The controversy centres around the portrayal of iconic freedom fighters. Khudiram Bose has reportedly been renamed “Khudiram Singh,” while Barindra Kumar Ghosh is shown as “Birendra Kumar from Amritsar.

These deviations have incited strong condemnation from the Trinamool Congress (TMC), which accuses the filmmakers of deliberately erasing Bengal’s historic contributions.

TMC leaders Kunal Ghosh and Arup Chakraborty held a press conference denouncing the film’s historical inaccuracies: “This is not just an error—it’s a calculated attempt to whitewash Bengal’s legacy.”

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, without directly naming the film, also lashed out: “There are attempts to undermine Bengal’s contribution to India’s freedom movement.

The BJP is behind this distortion of our cultural and historical identity.”

TMC has demanded the immediate withdrawal of the film and re-editing to restore historical accuracy.
