Final-Year VSSUT Student Found Dead Under PC Bridge in Sambalpur
SAMBALPUR, Sept 2 — Shockwaves rippled through the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) campus early Tuesday morning after the body of a final-year Mechanical Engineering student was discovered beneath the PC Bridge.
The deceased, identified as Anjaneya Dash from Jajpur district, was a resident of Pulastya Hostel.
Police sources confirmed Dash had sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to Burla Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Authorities have launched a full-scale investigation to determine the cause of death. While an accident has not been ruled out, foul play is also being probed.
A post-mortem examination is underway, and Dash’s family has been informed.
This incident comes on the heels of another student tragedy in the region—just days ago, two final-year MBBS students from VIMSAR drowned at Deojharan waterfall—raising serious concerns about student safety in Sambalpur.
University officials and students expressed deep sorrow over the loss, with many calling for enhanced safety protocols and mental health support across campuses.
