Fevikwik Glue Attack in Odisha Hostel Leaves Eight Students Hospitalized
In a shocking incident that has raised serious concerns about student safety, eight students from Salaguda Sevashram Hostel in Kandhamal district, Odisha, were hospitalised after Fevikwik glue was allegedly applied to their eyes while they slept.
The incident occurred late at night, and the victims reportedly woke up in severe pain, unable to open their eyes.
Hostel authorities rushed the students to Gochhapada Medical Centre, but due to the seriousness of their condition, they were later transferred to Phulbani District Headquarters Hospital for specialised treatment.
Officials confirmed that the students are under strict medical supervision. The District Welfare Officer visited the hospital to assess the situation, which has sparked outrage and concern among parents and education advocates.
While some speculate the act may have been a prank gone wrong, the psychological and physical trauma inflicted has prompted calls for tighter supervision and mental health support in residential schools.
The incident has also led to questions about how such an act could occur despite the presence of wardens and hostel superintendents.
Authorities have launched an investigation, and the incident is being treated with utmost seriousness.
