Tragedy struck a reserve police barrack in Balasore district as female constable Jashoda Das was discovered hanging in her barrack on Tuesday morning.
The constable, a resident of Mandarpur under Remuna police limits, was rushed to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital by her colleagues, where she was pronounced dead.
Preliminary reports suggest that Jashoda had been facing mental distress, which may have led to her taking this extreme step. Her brother hinted at personal issues involving a long-term relationship with an army personnel from Sora area, but the exact cause remains unclear.
Balasore Superintendent of Police (SP) Raj Prasad stated, “A personal matter might have been a contributing factor, but the investigation is still ongoing to uncover the circumstances surrounding her death.”
The incident has raised concerns about the mental health challenges faced by law enforcement personnel. Authorities are committed to a thorough investigation to ensure justice.
