Bhubaneswar, July 28 (UNI) A woman contractual female attendant at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar was allegedly subjected to sexual harassment by a male nursing officer triggering protest by staff members at the premiere Centre-run healthcare institute in the State.
The unsavory incident, which comes close on the heels of multiple sexual abuse cases in institutions, alleged occurred on Sunday night as the male nursing officer allegedly outraged the victim’s modesty inside the chamber of a doctor.
The accused however failed in his attempt to rape as the victim offered stiff resistance and raised alarm. Later the accused fled from the scene, said an official quoting the contents of an FIR lodged with Khandagiri police here.
The authorities of AIIMS-Bhubaneswar could not be contacted despite several attempts while a senior police official said the complaint was investigated with all seriousness. As prima facie evidence of the crime has been established, police have launched a manhunt to arrest the accused nursing officer.
