
Executive Officer Caught Taking Rs 25K Bribe in Ganjam | Odisha Vigilance Crackdown
In a swift anti-corruption operation, Odisha Vigilance officers apprehended Banamali Satpathy, Executive Officer of Belaguntha NAC in Ganjam district, while he accepted a Rs 25,000 bribe from a government employee.
The bribe was allegedly demanded to process the employee’s arrears of salary and issue a Last Pay Certificate (LPC), essential for drawing salary at his new posting.
The complainant, unable to access his dues, alerted Vigilance authorities, who intercepted Satpathy at Balipadar Bus Stop during the transaction. The entire bribe amount was recovered and seized as evidence.
Following the arrest, simultaneous raids were conducted at three locations linked to Satpathy to investigate potential disproportionate assets.
A case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, by Berhampur Vigilance Police (PS Case No. 14/2025).
This operation underscores Odisha Vigilance’s ongoing commitment to curbing corruption and ensuring accountability among public officials.
