Empowering SHG Women: World Skill Center Launches Cosmetology & Entrepreneurship Training
In a landmark move to bolster women’s economic independence, the World Skill Center in Bhubaneswar inaugurated a 12-week customized training program in cosmetology and entrepreneurship for Self-Help Group (SHG) members under the Mission Shakti initiative.
The program, launched through a strategic MoU between the World Skill Center and the Mission Shakti Department, aims to equip 21 women from eight districts with hands-on skills in beauty therapy, salon management, and business development. The initiative aligns with Odisha’s vision of creating “Lakhpati Didis”—financially empowered women entrepreneurs.
Speaking at the orientation, Dr. Monica Priyadarshini, Director of Mission Shakti, called the training a “launchpad for dreams, dignity, and financial independence.” Smt. Rashmita Panda, CEO of OSDA and World Skill Center, emphasized the holistic ecosystem being built to support women entrepreneurs with tools, networks, and mentorship.
The curriculum includes modules on financial literacy, customer service, and business planning, ensuring participants are not only skilled but also market-ready. Senior officials from both departments, including Shri Pinaki Patnaik and Dr. Jayant Dash, attended the event, underscoring the program’s strategic importance.
This initiative marks a significant step in inclusive growth, skill development, and livelihood generation for women across Odisha.
