ECoR GM Reviews Bhubaneswar & Cuttack Station Redevelopment: Safety and Modernity in Focus
Bhubaneswar, Dec 27: In a decisive push toward modernising Odisha’s railway infrastructure, East Coast Railway (ECoR) General Manager Parmeshwar Funkwal conducted an extensive inspection of the redevelopment projects at Bhubaneswar and Cuttack Railway Stations.
During his visit, Funkwal stressed the importance of strict adherence to safety protocols at construction sites, ensuring that progress does not compromise the well-being of workers or passengers. “Safety must remain paramount as we push forward with these transformative works,” he emphasised.
The redevelopment projects aim to elevate passenger amenities to world-class standards, positioning both stations as modern hubs for regional and national travel.
Key upgrades include redesigned entry points for seamless access, improved traffic flow with designated pickup and drop-off zones, widened approach roads, and dedicated parking for ambulances and vehicles.
Funkwal personally reviewed critical areas such as circulating zones and passenger pathways, assessing integration of advanced features like air concourses, foot over bridges (FOBs), integrated public announcement systems, fire protection mechanisms, food stalls, retiring rooms, Divyangjan-friendly provisions, and comprehensive CCTV surveillance.
These enhancements are expected to streamline operations, improve commuter convenience, and transform Bhubaneswar and Cuttack stations into efficient gateways for Odisha’s growing travel demands.
