Durga Puja Immersion Ceremony in Odisha: Cuttack & Bhubaneswar Host Grand Farewell with 122 Platoons Deployed
Cuttack/Bhubaneswar — The grand farewell to Goddess Durga unfolded in Odisha’s Twin Cities with vibrant processions, devotional fervor, and heightened security.
As the Dussehra festivities culminated, thousands of devotees escorted idols through city streets for immersion, marking the triumph of good over evil.
In Cuttack, the iconic Sahi Parikrama procession traced its traditional route through College Chhak, Ranihat, Mangalabag, and other key junctions. By 3 AM, twelve idols had already been immersed at Devigada ghat, where a temporary pond ensured eco-friendly rituals.
Bhubaneswar witnessed similar devotion, with idols carried to the Kuakhai and Daya rivers. To curb pollution, artificial ponds were arranged along the banks, reinforcing the city’s commitment to sustainable celebration.
To manage the massive turnout, authorities deployed 122 platoons of police, supported by central forces. Traffic diversions and crowd control measures were strictly enforced across both cities.
The immersion ceremony capped weeks of elaborate pandals, dazzling light gates, and cultural displays, leaving behind a cityscape echoing with chants and celebration.
