Drone Flown Over Jagannath Temple Sparks Security Alert

Puri,  October 10, 2025: A drone flying over the revered Shree Jagannath Temple and its surrounding corridor project triggered a swift security response on Friday evening.

The incident occurred despite strict prohibitions on aerial activity in the temple zone, raising concerns over potential breaches of protocol.

District Superintendent of Police Prateek Singh, who witnessed the drone in action, immediately ordered its seizure.

Acting on his directive, personnel from Singhadwar police station and a special task force tracked the drone to Shani Mandir Lane, where it was successfully confiscated.

The drone operator, identified as Durgaprasad Yadav from Chhattisgarh, was detained and is currently being interrogated at the Singhadwar police station.

Authorities confirmed that legal proceedings will be initiated under relevant laws governing restricted airspace and temple security.

SP Singh issued a public appeal urging citizens to respect the sanctity and security norms of the temple premises. “Unauthorised drone activity over the temple is a serious violation. We will take strict action against such breaches,” he stated.

The incident has reignited discussions around surveillance, enforcement, and the need for heightened vigilance in heritage zones.
