Driver Torches Ganja-Laden Car After Tyre Burst, Flees Scene in Subarnapur

Subarnapur, Odisha – September 6,

In a dramatic turn of events early Saturday morning, a vehicle suspected of transporting ganja was deliberately set ablaze by its driver near Binka Nua Bazaar in Odisha’s Subarnapur district.

The incident occurred around 6:45 AM when the unregistered Innova suffered a front tyre burst.

Eyewitnesses reported that the driver exited the vehicle, feigned seeking help, and then allegedly poured petrol on the car before igniting it. He fled the scene in another Innova that arrived shortly after.

Fire Services responded swiftly, but the vehicle and its suspected illicit cargo were completely destroyed.

Authorities believe the act was a calculated move to eliminate evidence amid “Operation Prahar,” a district-wide crackdown on drug trafficking.

Police are investigating the quantity of ganja lost in the fire and tracing the origins of the unregistered vehicle. The incident has raised concerns about the evolving tactics used by traffickers to evade law enforcement.

Further updates are expected as the investigation unfolds.
