DPIFF Breaks Silence: Allegations Denounced, Festival Set for Grand Comeback

Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival controversy

( OT Webdesk)The Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF) has vehemently denied allegations against its leadership, calling them false and defamatory.

The controversy arose ahead of the festival, initially scheduled for February 20, 2025, when certain individuals allegedly attempted extortion by threatening disruptions.

After their demands were ignored, they reportedly launched a smear campaign targeting DPIFF’s Managing Director, Anil Mishra, and CEO, Abhishek Mishra.

In light of safety concerns, DPIFF postponed the prestigious event but assured the public of its unwavering dedication to celebrating Indian cinema.

Legal counsel has since challenged the accusations, resulting in a judicial review and formal clearance at Bandra Police Station.

Addressing the issue, Abhishek Mishra reaffirmed DPIFF’s commitment to artistic excellence and expressed gratitude toward supporters who stood by them during the controversy.

Ishra emphasised that the festival will return stronger than ever, showcasing India’s cinematic brilliance on a global stage.

The organisation urged the film industry and the public to avoid misleading narratives and focus on celebrating creative excellence.

As legal proceedings continue, DPIFF is planning an even grander event to honour the legacy of Indian cinema.
