Diwali 2025 Date Finalized: Mukti Pandit Mahasabha Declares October 20 as Auspicious Day
In a decisive move to end widespread confusion, the Mukti Pandit Mahasabha has officially declared October 20, 2025, as the correct date for celebrating Diwali and Payashraddha.
The announcement was made during a press conference, where religious scholars and astrologers presented their findings based on traditional scriptures and lunar calendar analysis.
According to the Mahasabha, the auspicious period begins at 3:23 PM on October 20, aligning with spiritual norms and ensuring full ritual merit.
The organisation strongly advised devotees not to observe Diwali on October 21, citing that Amavasya on that day lasts only 14 minutes, rendering it unsuitable for sacred ceremonies.
The clarification comes amid conflicting calendar interpretations that had left devotees uncertain. By asserting October 20 as the spiritually accurate date, the Mahasabha aims to unify celebrations across Odisha and beyond.
The organisation also emphasised the importance of Payashraddha, a ritual honouring ancestors, which traditionally precedes Diwali.
Performing both rituals on the same day, they noted, fosters spiritual harmony and aligns with scriptural guidance.
Devotees are urged to begin preparations accordingly and adhere to the announced schedule to preserve the sanctity of the festival.
