Disproportionate Assets Worth ₹2.50 Crore of Retired Engineer Confiscated in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Feb 17: In a significant step against corruption, the Special Court (Vigilance), Bhubaneswar, has ordered the confiscation of disproportionate assets worth Rs 2.50 crore belonging to retired Executive Engineer Simadri Nayak.

The order, pronounced on February 17, 2026, comes under the Prevention of Corruption Act, following a detailed investigation by Odisha Vigilance.

Nayak, formerly posted at the R.W. Division in Umarkote, Nabarangpur, was found to have amassed assets far beyond his known sources of income.

Assets Confiscated

  • Immovable: A multi‑storeyed building in Rayagada, two residential buildings in Nabarangpur, and three plots of land across Rayagada and Nabarangpur.
  • Movable: Bank deposits and gold ornaments.

Odisha Vigilance had earlier charge‑sheeted Nayak and his spouse, leading to their conviction on December 11, 2023. The confiscation order is seen as a strong message reinforcing transparency and accountability in public service.

Officials emphasised that such actions highlight the state’s commitment to curbing corruption and ensuring that ill-got wealth is returned to the public domain.
