Dhenkanal (Orissa Today): In a dramatic turn of events, Debashis Behera, infamously known as ‘Hund,’ sustained injuries during a police encounter in Mangalpur, Dhenkanal, on Wednesday.
Behera, alleged to be en route to commit a premeditated murder, was intercepted by the Dhenkanal Sadar Police as part of a broader operation to curtail criminal activities in the region.
During the confrontation, Behera sustained a gunshot wound to his leg, subsequently leading to his capture. Law enforcement officials disclosed that Behera has been involved in over 20 heinous crimes, including charges of murder, theft, and dacoity. His leadership of the ‘King of Forest Gang’—a notorious group tied to violent crimes and illegal operations—has instilled fear among residents.
Authorities have vowed to dismantle the gang’s network and restore peace and safety to the region. Operations are ongoing to bring all perpetrators to justice and prevent further disruptions to the community.
