Dhenkanal Former Assistant Engineer Convicted in DA Case, Gets 2 Years RI

Dhenkanal: The Special Judge, Vigilance Dhenkanal, has convicted Niranjan Panda, former Assistant Engineer of OECF Division‑III, in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.

Panda was sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 50,000 under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

The Odisha Vigilance had charge‑sheeted Panda for possessing assets beyond his known sources of income.

Following the conviction, Vigilance authorities will move the competent authority to stop his pension.

This judgment underscores Odisha Vigilance’s ongoing crackdown on corruption among government officials, reinforcing accountability and transparency in public service.
