Dhadi Darshan to Launch at Puri Srimandir from September 15
(OT Webdesk)After months of anticipation and repeated public appeals, the Odisha government has officially announced the rollout of the Dhadi Darshan system at the iconic Jagannath Temple in Puri.
Starting September 15, devotees will experience a more organised and accessible darshan process—just in time for the auspicious Kartik month, which draws lakhs of pilgrims to the temple city.
Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan confirmed the launch, emphasising that the new queue system will streamline entry through the Sata Pahacha (Seven Steps) and facilitate exits via Ghanta Dwara for women and senior citizens, and Garada Dwara for male devotees. This gender-sensitive and age-considerate approach aims to reduce congestion and enhance safety.
A management committee will be formed within days to oversee implementation, including the relocation of the temple’s donation box (hundi). The temple administration is reportedly prepared for swift execution.
The Dhadi Darshan initiative is expected to significantly improve crowd control and elevate the spiritual experience for devotees, especially the elderly and women. With Kartik month approaching, the timing is seen as crucial to managing the surge in footfall.
