Deogarh Police Seize Country-Made Gun, Arrest One
Deogarh: In a late-night patrol near Dhaurakhman village, police intercepted a man attempting to evade them at Zero Point.
The accused, identified as 30-year-old Keshab Hemram of Jeypore, was apprehended near Khairpali High School.
Upon searching his motorcycle, police recovered a single-barreled country-made gun and gunpowder.
Hemram failed to produce valid documents for the firearm. Preliminary investigation suggests the weapon was intended for illegal hunting activities.
Authorities seized the gun, gunpowder, and motorcycle. Hemram was produced in court, where his bail plea was rejected, and he was remanded to judicial custody.
Police sources confirmed that such operations are part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal arms possession in forested regions of Odisha.
