Dense Fog Engulfs Puri as Cold Wave Eases in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: The recent western disturbance has brought much‑needed relief from the biting cold wave across Odisha, but residents are now grappling with a new challenge—dense fog blanketing several districts.
On Saturday morning, visibility dropped to just a few metres in many areas, disrupting traffic and forcing commuters to drive cautiously.
The thick fog created surreal scenes in Puri, where the iconic Jagannath Temple spire and the sacred Neelachakra flag were completely obscured from view, leaving locals and visitors astonished.
Meteorological experts attribute the phenomenon to high moisture levels, calm winds, and slightly warmer minimum temperatures.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast similar foggy conditions during early mornings and late nights over the next few days.
Authorities have urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel during low‑visibility hours and advised motorists to use fog lights and follow traffic guidelines strictly.
While the cold wave has eased, the fog continues to pose safety concerns across the state.
