Dense fog blankets Odisha: IMD issues weather alerts

Bhubaneswar,(Orissa Today) Jan 28: A thick layer of fog engulfed Paradip, Puri, and Gopalpur on Tuesday morning, reducing visibility to as low as 100 meters at Bhubaneswar airport. Nayagarh experienced even denser fog, with visibility dropping below 50 meters, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Dense fog was also reported in Angul, Bhubaneswar, Gopalpur, Dhenkanal, Khurda, Kendrapada, Cuttack, and Jagatsinghpur. The IMD has issued warnings of dense fog persisting in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Angul, and several other districts through Wednesday morning, with additional alerts for Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, and Jajpur districts over the next 24 hours.
Shallow to moderate fog is expected across multiple regions, including Kandhamal, Sundargarh, and Puri, during early morning hours through Friday.
Meanwhile, cold conditions persist, with Rourkela recording the lowest temperature at 8.2°C, followed by G Udayagiri at 8.6°C and Koraput’s Semiliguda at 9.6°C. The IMD predicts a 2-4°C rise in night temperatures over the next three days.
