Deepika Padukone Begins Shooting for SRK’s King After Exiting Kalki 2898 AD
Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone has officially joined Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film King, marking their sixth collaboration.
The announcement came via a heartfelt Instagram post featuring a close-up of Deepika holding SRK’s hand on set.
In her emotional note, Deepika reflected on a lesson SRK taught her during their first film Om Shanti Om: “The experience of making a movie, and the people you make it with, matter far more than its success.”
The news follows her exit from the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD, a sci-fi blockbuster that grossed Rs 1100 crore globally. Vyjayanthi Movies cited the need for “the highest level of commitment” as the reason for parting ways, while wishing her well.
Fans and celebrities, including Ranveer Singh, celebrated the reunion of Deepika and SRK, whose previous hits include Chennai Express, Happy New Year, Jawan, and Pathaan.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, King features a star-studded ensemble including Suhana Khan, Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, and Abhishek Bachchan. Deepika is also set to star in Atlee’s AA22xA6 with Allu Arjun, keeping her schedule packed through 2025.
