Death Threats Surface in Pitabas Panda Murder Case: Wife Seeks Protection
Brahmapur, Nov 8, 2025: Fresh turmoil has gripped the Pitabas Panda murder investigation as the deceased lawyer’s wife revealed receiving death threats allegedly in the name of the prime accused, Bikram Panda.
Speaking at a press conference, she claimed anonymous callers warned her to withdraw the case or face fatal consequences for herself and her son.
The threats, reportedly made on October 27 and 28, have left the family in fear, prompting urgent appeals for police protection.
Meanwhile, the Brahmapur police have intensified their probe, conducting a crime scene recreation with accused Chintu Pradhan and Kurupati Bhuyan.
According to sources, Kurupati greeted Pitabas before fatally shooting him in the chest, causing him to collapse beside his scooter.
Six individuals are now in police remand, including shooter Kurupati, bike driver Chintu, contract facilitator Yogi Raut, financier Madan Dalei, corporator Malay Bishoyi, and middleman Uma Bishoyi.
Madan and Malay were returned to jail after a two-day remand.
Adding to the tension, Pitabas’s brother, Purnachandra Panda, disclosed that an unknown caller had also threatened Pitabas’s son with vulgar abuse and death threats last week.
The investigation, led by SP Dr. Sharavana Vivek M and SDPO Priyas Ranjan Chhotaray, is now focused on uncovering the conspiracy’s origin and financial trail.
Key questions remain: Who funded the Rs 50 lakh contract? Why were public figures allegedly involved? Police are expected to extract critical details during the remand period.
