Bhubaneswar( OT Webdesk) – A tragic tourist vehicle accident in North Sikkim’s Mangan district has left four Odia travellers missing, prompting swift action from the Odisha government.
Acting on Chief Minister Mohan Majhi’s directive, senior transport officials have arrived in Sikkim to assist survivors and aid ongoing rescue operations.
The accident occurred near Chubombu when a vehicle carrying 11 tourists, including six from Odisha, lost control and plunged into the Teesta River.
Among the missing is the BJP Mahila Morcha’s state secretary, Itishree Jena, along with her family members.
The rescue teams have successfully recovered two minors, Sairaj Jena and Swoyam Supratim Nayak, who are now receiving medical treatment in Gangtok.
Despite challenging terrain and strong river currents, search efforts continue to locate the remaining missing individuals.
Odisha officials have visited the injured survivors, assuring full assistance and coordination with local authorities.
The tragedy has sent shockwaves across Odisha, with prayers pouring in for the safe recovery of those still unaccounted for.
