Darshan Suspended at Puri Jagannath Temple for Khasapada Lagi Ritual on March 9

Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has announced that darshan of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra will remain suspended for four hours on Monday, March 9, 2026.

The restriction will be in place from 6 pm to 10 pm, following the completion of the second Bhogamandap Bhog.

The suspension is due to the observance of the sacred Khasapada Lagi ritual, performed on Chaitra Krushna Sashthi Tithi.

This age‑old tradition, conducted two to three times a year, involves covering the holy feet of the deities with white cloth, symbolizing purity and devotion.

During the ritual, entry into the sanctum sanctorum will be restricted, and devotees will not be able to have darshan of the deities.

The temple authorities have urged devotees to plan their visits accordingly and cooperate with the arrangements, emphasizing that such rituals are integral to Jagannath culture and tradition.
