Darjeeling Woman Critical After Brutal Assault in Bhubaneswar’s Buddha Park
Bhubaneswar, Nov 23 — A woman from Darjeeling is battling for her life after a brutal assault near Buddha Park under Chandrasekharpur police limits on Sunday morning.
According to police, the victim had been running a momo stall in the locality for several months.
On the day of the incident, she visited Buddha Park with her boyfriend, identified as Tinku Gurum. Witnesses reported that a heated argument broke out between the couple, allegedly over personal suspicions.
The confrontation escalated when Tinku attacked the woman with a sharp weapon, slitting her throat. Bystanders rushed to her aid, prevented the accused from fleeing, and alerted the police.
The woman was immediately taken to a private hospital, where she remains in critical care.
Chandrasekharpur police have detained the accused and registered a suo motu case. Officials stated that further legal action will depend on the victim’s medical recovery and her statement once she is stable.
The incident has sparked concern in the community, highlighting ongoing issues of violence against women in Odisha.
