The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported a low-pressure area forming over the south Bay of Bengal, propelled by an upper-air cyclonic circulation extending up to 5.8 km above the mean sea level.
This weather system is expected to move northwest over the southwest Bay of Bengal, then drift northward to the west-central Bay over the next 48 hours.
The IMD issued forecasts for light to moderate rain or thundershowers in various districts of Odisha, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Puri, and Khurda, during the afternoon and evening hours of April 8-14. Additionally, the IMD has placed affected areas under a Yellow Alert, citing potential thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds of up to 40 km/h.
Meanwhile, temperatures in Odisha are expected to remain stable for the next 24 hours before decreasing by 2-3°C. However, isolated districts, such as Jharsuguda and Sambalpur, may experience intense heat conditions with highs exceeding 40°C.
Residents of Odisha are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions as these weather events unfold. Updates from IMD will guide safety measures and help mitigate risks associated with changing conditions.
