Cyber Cell Launches Awareness Drive at Nyaya Samhita Exhibition in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: In response to the alarming rise in online fraud, the Cyber Cell has launched a public awareness campaign at the Nyaya Samhita Exhibition in Bhubaneswar.
The initiative aims to educate citizens on digital safety, with special focus on women, senior citizens, children, and online investors.
Officials emphasised the importance of safeguarding personal information such as OTPs, PINs, CVV, Aadhaar, and bank details.
Citizens were urged to verify unknown calls before sharing sensitive data and to guide children on safe online practices.
Highlighting the “golden hour” principle, experts explained that the first hour after a cyber fraud is critical for recovery.
Victims should immediately block SIM cards, bank cards, and UPI services, inform banks to freeze accounts, and cease communication with fraudsters.
The campaign also warned against “digital arrest” scams, where fraudsters impersonate law enforcement via video calls and demand money.
Authorities clarified that legitimate agencies never conduct arrests or investigations online.
The exhibition provides interactive sessions on digital hygiene, cybercrime prevention, and legal protections under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Officials stressed that awareness remains the strongest defence against cybercrime.
