(OT Webdesk)Cuttack is poised for a major infrastructure leap with a Rs 640 crore elevated corridor project connecting OMP Square to Kandarpur.
Designed to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance road safety, the 13-km corridor will run along National Highway 55, featuring service roads, double-lane paved shoulders, flyovers, and grade separators.
The Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been finalised and awaits approval from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Once greenlit, construction is expected to begin within three months, with groundwork likely to start by the end of 2025.
Announced by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in April 2025, the project is part of the National Highway Development Budget 2024–25.
Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab has emphasised the urgency of the project, citing worsening traffic conditions and strong public demand.
The corridor promises to reduce travel time, minimise accident risks, and streamline heavy vehicle movement—ushering in a safer, faster commute for thousands of daily travellers.
