Cuttack’s JICA-Funded Sanitation Project Fully Executed, Confirms H&UD Minister

Odisha’s Housing and Urban Development Minister, Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, informed the Legislative Assembly that the JICA-backed sanitation and drainage project in Cuttack has been fully completed with no pending works.

The project, implemented by WATCO under the Cuttack Municipal Corporation, delivered extensive infrastructure improvements, including 2.59 km of box drains, nearly 20 km of open drains, and over 362 km of sewerage pipelines.

Dr Mahapatra emphasised that since all works have been executed, questions of delays, additional funds, or revised timelines do not arise.

The announcement underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening urban sanitation and drainage systems, ensuring better living conditions for residents of Cuttack.
