Cuttack, Odisha (OT Webdesk)– In a significant crackdown on counterfeit goods, the Commissionerate Police raided a factory in Jagatpur, Cuttack, on May 2, 2025, uncovering an illegal operation producing fake washing powder under branded names.
The facility, which was mimicking popular washing powder brands through adulteration, was sealed, and the factory owner was arrested on the spot. The raid marks another chapter in the ongoing battle against adulteration in the Silver City, a region that has seen similar illicit operations in recent years.
According to police reports, the factory was using substandard materials to create counterfeit washing powders, packaging them with labels of well-known brands to deceive consumers. The raid resulted in the seizure of large quantities of fake washing powder, along with equipment used in the adulteration process.
