Cuttack Hotel Raid Uncovers Suspected Fraud Network Linked to Bengal and Bangladesh

In a high-stakes operation during Kali Puja festivities, police from Chauliagang station raided Jasmine Hotel in Cuttack’s Shikarpur area, detaining 32 young men from West Bengal.

Acting on intelligence about a suspicious gathering of non-Odia individuals, ACP Krushnachandra Sethi and IIC Chinteshwar Munda led the early morning raid that uncovered multiple rooms occupied by the suspects.

Initial interrogations revealed evasive responses, with some detainees hinting at involvement in chit fund scams and cryptocurrency frauds. Authorities are also probing whether several individuals may be Bangladeshi nationals, as identity verification is underway.

The raid sparked public tension, drawing over 100 locals to the hotel premises. Police acted swiftly to prevent escalation, relocating the group for further questioning. This incident follows rising concerns over similar gatherings in Cuttack and underscores heightened vigilance during the festive season.

The investigation is ongoing, with Odisha Police urging community cooperation to maintain law and order.
