Cuttack Fortifies Durga Puja Festivities with 122 Platoons, Drones, and Anti-Terror Squads
Cuttack, September 28, — In a sweeping security initiative ahead of Durga Puja and Bhasani celebrations, the Commissionerate Police has deployed 122 platoons and 600 officers across Cuttack.
Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh confirmed that two CRPF companies and anti-terror squads are stationed at strategic points to ensure public safety.
To bolster surveillance, 39 new police posts have been established, while drones and CCTV cameras provide real-time monitoring of puja mandaps, crowd zones, and immersion routes.
Special attention is being given to the safety of women and children, with plainclothes officers deployed at key locations.
Traffic management is also in focus, with 35 designated parking zones and immersion-related diversions scheduled from October 3–4.
Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been selected to mentor five cities—Kendrapada, Deogarh, Bargarh, Pattamundai, and Joda—under the Swachh Shehar Jodi program.
This 100-day initiative aims to replicate best practices in sanitation, waste processing, and citizen engagement.
In a parallel move, the Odisha government is launching waste-to-energy and biogas plants at Palasuni to process up to 2,000 tonnes of waste daily from Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, and Jatni.
The project is expected to generate 25 MW of energy, marking a significant step toward sustainable urban management
