Cuttack Court Orders Attachment of Land Records Office Assets Over ₹9.44 Crore Dues

In a rare move, the Commercial Court in Cuttack has directed the attachment of assets belonging to the Office of the Director of Land Records and Survey to recover dues of Rs 9.44 crore owed to a private firm based in Silvassa.

Earlier attempts to enforce the order on February 18 were unsuccessful as the office premises were locked and staff were absent.

The court has now issued a fresh directive, instructing authorities to proceed with confiscating office equipment and related assets by March 10.

The development has drawn administrative attention, as the attachment of government office assets is considered unusual in recovery cases.

Officials are expected to take further legal and administrative steps as the deadline approaches.
