Cuttack Congress Leader Giribala Behera Opposes Moquim’s Expulsion, Warns of Party Weakening

Cuttack: Senior Congress leader Giribala Behera has strongly opposed the expulsion of Mohammed Moquim, calling the move unfair and detrimental to the party’s future in Cuttack.

Behera argued that Moquim’s leadership was instrumental in reviving Congress’s fortunes in the city after years of electoral setbacks.

Alongside his daughter Sofia, Moquim secured rare victories in both assembly and municipal elections, giving the party a renewed presence.

She emphasised that Moquim was never indisciplined, instead working tirelessly to strengthen the organisation through letters and grassroots efforts.

His removal, she warned, has demoralised party workers and leaders who relied on his influence and organisational skills.

Behera cautioned that ignoring ground realities and sidelining leaders who deliver results will weaken Congress’s chances in future elections.

The decision has already sparked unrest among local members, many of whom believe Moquim’s absence will leave a leadership vacuum in Cuttack.
