CUO Signs MoU with Four Central Universities to Advance Tribal Research and NEP 2020 Goals
(OT Webdesk)In a strategic move aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Central University of Odisha (CUO) has signed a transformative Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with four leading Central Universities to foster academic collaboration and tribal empowerment.
The partner institutions include the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad; Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh (CTUAP), Vizianagaram; Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU), Amarkantak; and Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University (SSCTU), Telangana.
The MoU, formalised at CUO’s Sunabeda campus, aims to promote multidisciplinary learning, facilitate faculty and student exchanges, support credit transfers, and drive joint research initiatives.
A special emphasis has been placed on tribal studies, digital education, Indian knowledge systems, and entrepreneurship—key pillars for regional development and increasing the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER).
Academic leaders present at the ceremony underscored the importance of learning from tribal communities and integrating indigenous knowledge into mainstream academia.
SSCTU’s ongoing nine-month tribal research project and CUO’s inspiration drawn from Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s July 2025 visit further highlight the MoU’s strategic depth.
The agreement is valid for five years, with provisions for renewal, marking a significant milestone in CUO’s mission to elevate tribal education and research excellence.
