CRUT Deepens Road Safety Culture, Rolls Out Electric Buses to Strengthen Green Mobility

CRUT Zero Accident Day campaign

Bhubaneswar(OT Webdesk): The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) has intensified its ‘Zero Accident Day’ campaign with daily safety counselling and a renewed Road Safety Pledge across all depots and operational terminals.

The move aims to foster accountability and prioritise passenger safety across Odisha’s urban transport ecosystem.

Smt. Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary of the Housing & Urban Development Department, led the initiative from the front during an engagement at the Naraj Electric Bus Depot.

She emphasised, “Safety begins with each one of us,” while administering the pledge to ground-level staff.

The campaign reiterates CRUT’s motto—“Come Home Safe”—urging crew members to ensure every journey is secure, timely, and passenger-centric.

The campaign coincides with a significant green mobility expansion. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently flagged off 100 electric buses, which are now active across 11 routes in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Puri.

CRUT’s newly constructed Naraj Depot, designed with eco-friendly building technologies, now serves as the operational hub for these e-buses.

By blending safety awareness with sustainability, CRUT reinforces its commitment to delivering efficient, inclusive, and environmentally responsible public transportation in Odisha.
