Crude Bomb Attack Near Bhubaneswar KV‑3: Five Suspects Detained, NIA Joins Probe

Bhubaneswar witnessed a shocking security breach on Friday morning when unidentified bike‑borne miscreants hurled a crude bomb near Gate No. 3 of Kendriya Vidyalaya‑3 (KV‑3) in the Gadakana locality.

The incident occurred around 8:00 AM, a time when nearly 1,000 to 1,500 students usually enter the school premises. Fortunately, the spot was deserted, averting a potential tragedy.

The Commissionerate Police swiftly detained five suspects in connection with the attack. Mancheswar Police are interrogating them using CCTV footage and inputs from local residents.

To strengthen the probe, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) have joined the investigation.

A scientific team recovered gunpowder, metal spikes, shattered glass, and other materials from the site.

Residents have raised concerns about inadequate patrolling and the growing presence of intoxicated individuals near the school, warning of risks to student safety.

The timing of the blast has heightened concern, as President Droupadi Murmu was in Odisha and staying in the state capital during the incident.

Authorities are treating the case with utmost seriousness, especially since major Indian cities remain on high alert following a recent explosion in New Delhi.
