Congress Wraps Up ‘Vote Chor Gadi Chhad’ Campaign with Over 12 Lakh Signatures in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Nov 9: The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) has concluded its statewide signature campaign titled ‘Vote Chor Gadi Chhad’ (Vacate the Vote Thief’s Seat), collecting a staggering 12,00,537 signatures.

The campaign, aimed at raising public awareness against alleged electoral malpractice, culminated in a symbolic flag-off event and a civic awareness rally at Congress Bhavan in Bhubaneswar.

The event was presided over by PCC War Room Chairman Manoranjan Dash, with participation from senior leaders including Niranjan Patnaik, Ananta Prasad Sethy, Sharad Kumar Raut, and Sameer Kumar Rautray, among others.

They voiced strong concerns over what they termed as “systematic vote theft” and called for electoral accountability.

The campaign drew active participation from Youth Congress, Mahila Congress, Seva Dal, and NSUI members. Youth Congress leader Surya Kanta Jena extended gratitude to volunteers and citizens for their overwhelming support.

The initiative was inspired by Rahul Gandhi’s August press conference, where he alleged widespread vote tampering.

Following his remarks, the Congress launched coordinated press briefings across 35 organisational districts in Odisha and rolled out the signature drive as part of a national-level campaign.

The collected signatures will now be forwarded to the All India Congress Committee (AICC), contributing to the party’s broader goal of gathering 5 crore signatures nationwide.

These will be submitted to the President of India as part of a formal memorandum demanding electoral reforms and transparency.
